Role: Advocacy Content Coordinator
Level: Associate
Job Design: 60% writing (blog posts, weekly email newsletters, and social media posts on multiple channels), 20% editing (copy-editing and fact-checking), and 20% content planning and strategy.
Required Experience:  Writing content to promote engagement and response, be it comments, clicks, likes, or advocacy actions. Editing content to ensure adherence to AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style. Creating posts featuring text and images/graphics for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Preferred Experience: Understanding of digital marketing, including email marketing, social media marketing, and search engine optimization. Familiarity with advocacy and international development policy. Photo editing and graphic production via Photoshop. Content creation, publishing, and data analysis via WordPress and MailChimp
Location: Seattle, WA area (office is located in Federal Way, WA). Remote work is available during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Salary Range: $55K-58K (approx. DOE)

01 The Job: Your voice can move mountains. Advocacy plays an essential role in World Vision’s work. As we work alongside communities to provide safety, health, and opportunity for every child, our advocacy challenges the policies, systems, structures, practices and attitudes that make it difficult for vulnerable children and their families to experience “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). By addressing the systemic contributors and causes of poverty, World Vision’s advocacy work ensures that community transformation is sustainable and scalable. We back policies that have broad, bipartisan support in Congress, in partnership with other leading humanitarian organizations. Over the past decade our advocacy has helped pass nearly one new law every year that ensures children are better fed, educated, and protected. To build on this work we need thousands of advocates across the country, uniting their voices to this cause. As the Advocacy Content Coordinator, your writing and marketing skills will be put to use creating content that engages and inspires World Vision supporters to write or call their members of Congress about the bills and issues that matter most in the fight against poverty and injustice. You’ll manage our advocacy blog as well as write, commission, and edit articles that explain the issues and motivate readers to act. You’ll also write and produce our weekly advocacy email newsletter, in addition to creating weekly social media posts promoting advocacy content and actions across multiple channels. Working under the leadership of the team’s Advocacy Communications and Marketing Manager, you’ll also help set the annual advocacy editorial calendar and strategy and complete additional writing and editing tasks as needed. 02 What success looks like: (1) Under your stewardship, World Vision’s written advocacy content projects a positive, bold, and faith-rooted voice that brings a sense of urgency to our work aimed at ending poverty and injustice around the globe. (2) You strategically and tactically leverage unpaid media, both owned and earned, to incrementally grow our email, blog, and social followers that in turn mobilizes our supporters to advocate with their elected officials on our behalf ultimately culminating in favorable outcomes that further the impact of the organization. (3) As a gifted communicator, you demonstrate the ability to distill complex policy issues into messaging that is easily understandable to our supporters leaving audiences feeling informed and empowered to act and be difference makers. (4) You consistently meet deadlines, exude grace and flexibility in the midst of the fluid environment of advocacy, and expertly prioritize work that helps our team communicate quickly and efficiently, especially in fast-paced or urgent scenarios. (5) Your creativity allows our team to communicate in new and innovate effective ways that grow the reach and impact of World Vision’s advocacy work.

05 You Bring: A Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of equivalent work experience as well as 3-5 years experience in writing and editing. More specifically, experience writing content to promote engagement and response, be it comments, clicks, likes, or advocacy actions. Additionally, your experience editing content to ensure adherence to AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style. Lastly, any experience have creating posts featuring text and images/graphics for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
