Senior Marketing Manager

Position Summary:

In the position of Cross International’s Content Writer & Strategist (CWS) you are a skilled writer who will play a critical role in meeting the written (mostly) and visual (somewhat) expressions of Cross International to a broad range of audiences: donors and prospective donors, marketing initiatives, external and internal constituents, and the general public. Your work will have an immense influence on Cross International’s growth and impact with many of the world’s most vulnerable people over the coming years.

As CWS, you will reach broadly into CI’s organization and will engage with and produce material for our Development, Marketing, and Programs departments and work closely with the President & CEO and marketing leadership in crafting the voice of CI. You may travel internationally to CI’s partners to gather key resources (stories, pictures, video) to be used in a multiple of manners by Cross. The majority of your work will be in written form but may also include facilitating video concepting, content, and production, all to meet the priority needs of Cross International.

The position requires that you are an experienced, energetic person of Christian faith with excellent writing skills, loves a team environment, has tactful interpersonal skills, are proactive and love a “how can I create” instead of a “what tasks do you want me to do” mindset and environment, you are intent to complete projects on time, and you have a passion to serve the world’s most vulnerable populations with compassion and respect. You also have an understanding of the contemporary influences within North American evangelical churches and the worldwide Church at large.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required/Preferred:

  • Strong, proven experience in creative, persuasive writing (brand expression, proposals, reports, marketing, blogs, email, speeches, etc.);
  • Knowledgeable, experienced, and effective in writing search engine optimized copy for SEO and websites,

o Optimizing current copy on the website for SEO (page titles, Meta descriptions, h l s, alts, anchor text, etc.)

o Backlinking, keyword research, rank analysis, content marketing strategy and analysis

o Knowledge of analytics tools like Google and Bing analytics

  • Grant writing and reporting is a plus, but not required;
  • Self-motivated, loves challenges and is able to handle multiple tasks with precision while

    meeting deadlines;

  • Love both working on your own and being part of a team;
  • Solving problems with initiative and creativity;
  • Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate the CI mission to audiences
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, organizational

    and motivational skills;

  • Knowledge of or interest in international affairs, including Latin America & Caribbean,

    and African regions;

  • Database management skills and proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Design

    software such as InDesign and others is a plus, along with ability to learn new software

    and navigate common business use IT issues;

  • Effective at working remotely, and being an engaged member of a team
  • Familiarity with social media platforms;
  • Economical and efficient skill in business travel

    Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create compelling proposals for donors (mega, major, and mid-level), informative

    reports, and collateral pieces. This will require working with CI’s Development department to know the needs for these materials, and with our Programs department to have an in-depth understanding of CI projects and their respective status;

  • Work with CI’s Marketing department to concept and write for needed SEO (including keyword research, backlinking and rank analysis) and to keep the content of CI’s website fresh and relevant;
  • Work with CI’s Marketing department to concept and write for strategic brand expression (marketing materials, blogs, emails, organizational positioning, etc.);
  • Work with CI’s President & CEO to concept and write blogs, white papers, presentations, speeches, to express the faith-driven mission of Cross and engagement with people of the developing world;
  • Edit for style, content, and quality control;
  • Help manage Cross International’s content resource library; 
  • Set and achieve annual goals for the CWS position and assist in meeting organizational goals;
  • Be adept at traveling internationally in developing countries and travel (as needed and possible) to visit international partner projects to gather compelling stories, pictures and video of beneficiaries and their context to be used to communicate to CI constituent audiences;
  • Document all SOPs for the CWS role;

    Education or Certification Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, international studies,

    non-profit administration or other related field;

  • Fluency in Spanish or another foreign language is a plus.

    General Requirements:

  • A person of Christian faith and active member/attender of a local Christian church and is a contributing part of a local body of believers
  • 10+ years of creating effective, compelling written communications pieces in the non- profit sector;
  • Has a deep desire, a calling, to serve the world’s most vulnerable people;
  • Thrives and is able to perform in a changing organizational environment;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a

    wide range external and internal audiences;

  • High energy and passion for the CI mission is essential, in order to motivate your

    audiences;

  •  Is a person who has a sense of humor and enjoys co-workers;
  • Can be based in South Florida or remote within the United States;
  •   Ability to effectively work remotely from a home office as needed, with travel to CI

    headquarters on a regular basis (i.e., weekly or quarterly, as current travel policy and

    office conditions allow in relations to COVID-19 and where you are based);

  • Some international travel to project sites may be required, less than 10% of time. (All

    travel is dependent on CI current travel policy and in relation to COVID-19)
