The Need
After 25 years of continued growth and operational success in protecting those living in poverty from violence, IJM has become a $100+ million organization. As IJM continues this trajectory of growth and scaling of its impact, with the Vision to protect 500 million people by the year 2030, IJM Switzerland’s Board of Directors is seeking a Director to set up and lead the IJM Switzerland office.
Job Brief
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Director of IJM Switzerland.
This leader will:
Build the vision, strategy and team in Switzerland to achieve CHf 1 million annually in revenue within the first four years, in alignment with IJM’s 2030 vision and global strategy.
Expand IJM’s influence and financial support for the mission in Switzerland and help IJM realize its goal to rescue millions, protect half a billion and make justice for the poor unstoppable.
Be willing to wear the many hats required in the start-up phase of an organization, quick to assess the value of multiple opportunities and make clear strategic decisions.
This position will report to the Board of IJM Switzerland with dotted line reporting to the Regional President of Africa & Europe and be based remotely within Switzerland (preference for proximity to Zurich, Bern, or Geneva).
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic plan for IJM Switzerland in alignment with IJM’s 2030 vision and global strategy that achieves ambitious annual growth in revenue;
Build a network of relationships with individual donors, foundations, churches and corporations resulting in new major and recurring donors to IJM;
Build and lead a small team of high-performing, innovative and dedicated professionals and volunteers to accomplish goals set forth in the strategic plan;
Establish IJM in Switzerland as a go-to leader and partner for world-shaping institutions in the fight against global slavery and other forms of violence;
Represent the organization externally as a spokesperson with donors, influencers, media, government and global institutions and build an effective network to end slavery and other forms of violence against people living in poverty;
Develop, implement and evaluate strategies to significantly broaden and deepen the base of support from major donors in the region, contributing to regional fundraising strategies;
Ensure cost-effective operations, including full compliance with applicable laws and best practice and consistency with IJM’s country and regional planning, budgeting, and reporting rhythms;
Cultivate a corporate culture of joy, transparency, spiritual health, integrity, and disciplined execution.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or International Development, or equivalent combination of Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience;
Five to ten years’ experience in high net-worth fundraising or sales, preferably within an international organisation;
Demonstrated success achieving ambitious and sustained enterprise growth, taking operations to scale that consistently achieve mission-critical goals;
Embodies and leads in alignment with IJM values.
Track record of annually bringing in over $1,000,000 from major donors (or sales/investment equivalent);
Proven ability to inspire generosity; developing and maintaining a network of relationships with major donors to raise significant revenue;
Inspiring leadership, interpersonal and intercultural skills, ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
Proven ability to develop a vision, execute on strategy and manage multiple projects;
Excellent written, public presentation and communication skills with a proven track record of moving people to action;
Excellent command of spoken and written English and either French or German, (knowledge of both Swiss German and French would be beneficial);
Experience of managing staff, hiring and building a team would be preferred;
Existing right to work in Switzerland;
Ability to work from Zurich, Geneva or Bern and to travel both domestically and internationally.
Travel
This position may require up to 30% travel within Switzerland and to international locations including IJM’s offices around the world and strategic conferences and thought leadership fora.
