As a Christ centered organization, AMAZI WATER is the primary implementer of Burundian water projects, working to provide sustainable access to clean water in every community by 2028.
About the Role:
The Drilling Supervisor role is to train and oversee drilling teams as well as the site preparation relating to the work. AMAZI Water is a high paced organization, and the Drilling Supervisor will be expected to achieve a minimum number of sites per week.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure Standards and procedures are met during all operations,
- Implementing drilling operations and ensuring that they are complete as per schedule,
- Proficient knowledge in all the RWSN standards related to drilling,
- Complete the monthly forecast at the end of each month, the drill team and submit the report to the construction administrative coordinator,
- Submit drilling report to the construction administrative coordinator for every borehole drilled,
- Provide professional advice and guidance on geology that the Rig cannot drill drill prior to any drilling operations,
- Provide professional advice and guidance on any foreseeable roadblocks to AW’s drilling operations,
- Provide summary reports on any failed borehole to the line manager,
- Assemble, train, and develop crews of drilling construction operatives,
- Assemble and maintain drilling equipment,
- Prepare spares and consumables orders,
- Ensure safe transportation of the drilling rig to the place of work,
- Supervise the drilling operations and the performance of the rigs,
- Effectively use plastic or steel temporary casing to prevent caving in of the earth in the well,
- Make regular reports to the construction coordinator on the progress of operations,
- Implementing safety measures and regularly monitoring them for irregularities.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
Experience:
- At least 5 to 8 years of experience as a driller
- Must have Safety, Communication & Supervisory skills.
- 3+ years driving experience.
Technical training qualifications required:
- Experience to operate drilling and construction equipment.
- Work outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Understanding the drilling Rig components
Role Specific Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- The individual has Safety, Communication & supervisory skills
- Be safety conscious in all his/her work and use compulsory protective equipment
- Skill in controlling operations of equipment or systems.
