Lifewater is an established Christian non-profit and community development organization walking with the rural poor to provide access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene, one village at a time. For 45 years, we have served more than 2.5 million people in 40+ countries with life-saving clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. Lifewater currently serves in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Position Overview
The Grants and Foundations Manager is responsible for strengthening and growing the fundraising efforts of Lifewater International through the research, cultivation, writing, stewardship reporting, and administration of grant making. The Grants and Foundations Manager will win funding through a variety of local, regional, national, and international sources. The role will work cross-functionally with Lifewater’s Programs team and Donor Relations team to ensure all aspects of awards are coordinated and managed in accordance with funding criteria.

The Grants and Foundations Manager’s primary responsibilities include:

-With the direction of the leadership team, create and implement an ongoing strategy of identifying and researching new and prospective grants and foundations
-Coordinate the development, execution, writing, and submission, and stewardship reporting of all fundraising grants and proposals
-Identify, research, and evaluate new prospects for grant funding, including foundations, corporations, national, and international sources
-Responsible for the growth of revenue in the foundations grants channel, to meet and exceed fundraising goals
-Collaborate with the Development team to develop and execute fundraising plans to support Lifewater’s annual operating budget and special projects
-Work closely with the Regional Directors to implement a customized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy for Major Donor threshold foundations
-Partner with the Programs Team to identify projects and programs requiring support, and to ensure accurate data in all reporting and proposals
-Maintain accurate records of all grant tracking and reporting data through Salesforce
-Keep abreast of current fundraising trends and opportunities
-Develop and maintain an understanding and knowledge of the WASH sector, as well as a detailed understanding of the mission, vision, values, brand, and business strategy of Lifewater International
-Other duties as assigned

Work Experience and Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
-Adherence to Lifewater’s statement of faith
-Passion for Lifewater’s mission of serving vulnerable communities and children
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Communication, English, Marketing, or a related field
-5+ years of progressively responsible fundraising, business development, and/or sales experience
-Successful foundation and grant writing experience
-Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs
-Experience working with Salesforce, or a similar CRM tool
-Superior ability in organizing and prioritizing tasks, to balance responsibilities and to meet deadlines, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities
-Excellent written communication skills, and research skills
-Strong ability to interpret and communicate program information and financial reports to funders
-Takes initiative and is self-motivated, a good problem solver
-Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship will be provided

Preferred Qualifications:
-Previous work experience with non-profit grant writing
-Experience working with Project Management systems, such as Asana

Physical Qualifications:
-Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
-Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
