MFI Product Specialist Manager

The MFI product specialist manager oversees the development and execution of specialized products that meet client needs and fulfill the mission of HOPE International. This role will lead the product specialist sub-team strategy and promote product innovation and growth. He/she will coordinate with MFI leaders and other technical experts to set a strategy and prioritize projects related to product development, product reporting, holistic impact, digitalization of products, and other strategic priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
Team and Project Management

Oversee the development and management of multiple product lines led by MFI product specialists (SME, agriculture, housing, digital, etc.)
Establish an MFI product specialist sub-team within the MFI Support Services team to fulfill the performance and financial analysis necessary for HOPE’s microfinance network to achieve strategic plan goals
Prioritize projects and requests from MFI management and manage workload for the MFI product specialists team
Manage relationships within interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams including MFI management, other specialists within MFI Support Services, technical assistance, and program resources and external entities as needed
Oversee development of MFI staff, including MFI product specialists and field-based program staff, in the discipline of product management
Product Strategy

Alongside MFI product specialists, develop multi-year strategic plans for growing specialized products to serve more clients and deepening holistic impact to fulfill the mission of HOPE International
Drive innovation and growth of specialized products in the HOPE MFI network, including championing the digitalization of existing products and operational processes, and the development of new digital financial services
Provide strategy and design consultation to MFI leadership, alongside MFI product specialists, to promote portfolio diversification and the growth of specialized products
Promote a client-centered approach to understanding the needs of HOPE’s microfinance clients and equip MFI product specialists and MFI leaders in designing products and operational processes that serve clients well
Promote the development of holistic impact strategies for specialized products in the HOPE MFI network
Ensure consistent standards and best practices for HOPE’s specialized products
Participate in microfinance and financial inclusion industry networks, stay abreast of industry standards and research, and make recommendations to the HOPE MFI network for improvement and innovation
MFI Support Services

Collaborate with the Director of MFI Support Services and other team managers to support overall team function, health, and performance, including contributing to team-wide projects, considerations of team workload and development, and contributing to team events

QUALIFICATIONS

Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, international development, or related field
7+ years of professional experience in economic development, microfinance, international banking, or financial services sector, with 3+ years in a management role. Experience in agriculture finance, housing finance, SME finance, and/or digital finance, a plus
Experience managing credit portfolios and analyzing and underwriting loan applications
Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines
Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees across the organization, locally and remotely, across cultures, and with external stakeholders
Demonstrated capacity to motivate, develop, and lead others in a culturally diverse and geographically distributed context
Excellent cross-cultural listening and communication skills. Cross-cultural living experience preferred
Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills
Full professional proficiency in the English language; proficiency in French, Kinyarwanda, and Ukrainian, preferred
Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 75 nights a year
