Senior Writer/Editor

CURE International is a Christian non-profit organization operating a global network of eight pediatric hospitals in Africa and the Philippines. We are currently searching for candidates with expertise in professional writing and editing within non-profit organizations. The Senior Writer/Editor will serve at our Mission Support Center located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A remote option would be considered for the right candidate.

The Senior Writer/Editor (SWE) is a key member of the communications department and supports both the global and hospital content needs for communicating the work of CURE. The Senior Writer/Editor manages the editorial process, overseeing the content development, proofing process, and publishing of content for multiple corporate communication channels. The SWE is both a great writer and an effective project manager who can see content development from inception through to publication, ensuring first quality work throughout the process. This role works collaboratively across the Advancement and hospital programs, managing the interaction of processes, people, and content in conjunction with CURE’s creative assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage the content process from writing, editing, and proofing, to formatting and publishing.
2. Work with the team to prepare written content for publications, stories, articles, emails, donor reports, and web channels.
3. Write high-level corporate communications for broad external audiences.
4. Manage the execution of a content editorial calendar using collaborative teamwork and project management tools.
5. Keep all CURE websites up-to-date with timeline information and updates.
6. Serve as an editor/proofreader for all internal/external communications.
7. Assist with content gathering and formatting for internal communications.
8. Manage content cataloging, organization, and distribution internally and externally with partners, contractors, and/or vendors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. B.A. or B.S. degree in Communications, English, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum ten (10) years of professional writing/editing experience for a non-profit organization or similar.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Ability to manage digital Content Management Systems, including WordPress, Marq (formerly Lucidpress, and PageProof.
2. Use of Google Suite, including Drive, Docs, Gmail, Sheets, etc.
3. Excellent writing and editorial skills.
4. Basic project management skills.
