BACKGROUND: Counteract International is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to equipping incarcerated and recently released youth for success. We have been partnering with national governments in Central America since 2000. Our 45 team members in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala work inside government-run juvenile correctional centers daily to share the Gospel and prepare youth for success through life skills courses. Our aftercare teams follow up with youth once they are released through 1:1 mentoring, scholarships and job connections. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Counteract is currently accepting applications for a full-time Regional Director of Programs to oversee and coordinate programs. The position requires is based in El Salvador, Honduras, or Guatemala with regular travel within all three countries.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Program Development 
    • Provide regular input and advice on improving program design, including programs related to life skills, faith development, reintegration, scholarships, entrepreneurship, and community service. 
    • Create annual work plans for successful implementation of programs. 
    • Maintain and update Program Manual, including processes and procedures for delivering program results.
    • Research and develop curriculum improvements.
    • Identify labor market and economic trends in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala to ensure programs are setting up youth for success.  
    • Connect staff with professional development and training opportunities.
    • Consult on grant writing projects, ensuring that proposals are culturally relevant.  
  • Monitoring and Evaluation 
    • Provide overall direction for the design, implementation, and training of M&E system.  
    • Identify and implement data collection tools and techniques.
    • Assist the team with producing regular reports to communicate outcomes.
    • Generate reports, data tables, graphics, maps and other presentations required for programmatic decision making.  
  • Communications 
    • Coordinate the collection of program results, stories and data needed to share with Counteract leadership and donors.
    • Train and support staff members on communication strategies and best practices. 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bilingual Spanish/English, with native Spanish abilities in speaking, reading, and writing. Must have a near-native level of English speaking, reading, and writing. 
  • Experience developing monitoring and evaluation systems and data collection tools.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (social sciences, development studies, statics, project management or related field) 
  • Minimum two years experience in program management, preferably in the non-profit or international development sector.  
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a wide range of contexts.  
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and implementing complex projects.
