Work Hours: Monday– Friday, 40 hours/week, additional hours as required

As part of GWC's focus on innovation, we have launched Carbon 4 Safe Water “C4SW”, which will help nonprofits stay carbon compliant. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Carbon Credit Program Associate to join our dynamic team and drive our carbon financing practice. The Associate will be responsible for supporting C4SW in delivering carbon credit consulting services to WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) sector project developers, and coordinate and support the delivery of a dMRV platform (digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) to C4SW’s clients.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? 

We are looking for a passionate and entrepreneurial associate to provide carbon credit consulting services for WASH project implementers.  This role plays a critical part in executing our business strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and advising the implementation partners to leverage carbon credits and financing. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Carbon Credits- Certification and Monetization 

  • Develop technical expertise in relation to the certification processes for WASH project methodologies associated with the major carbon standards including Clean Development Mechanism, Gold Standard, and Verra. 
  • Support WASH project developer clients in dealings with carbon standards on turn-key basis from initial project listing to certification and first issuance of carbon offsets.  
  • Provide consulting support for processes and client deliverables, such as initial project assessment (feasibility, additionality, adequacy of data capture and management systems and resources), project registration (PDDs and associated documentation), audit processes with Validation and Verification Bodies “VVBs” and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) data and record management. 
  • Engage with external stakeholders including regulators, partners, verification bodies, vendors, specialist consultancies to ensure compliance and best practice. 
  • Design, develop, and optimize procedures, best practices, and training in relation to carbon related functions for internal and client use. 
  • Support the evaluation and quantification of carbon credit opportunities, including financial, emission, and risk assessment. 
  • Conduct in-depth research and surveys periodically to identify market trends, competitive landscape, technical developments, and to assess potential of new geographic markets. 
  • Support senior leadership on carbon credit strategies and potential revenue streams. 
     

Data Capture and Management 

Support the installation, configuration and customization of software solution platforms for dMRV applications as an integral part of carbon credit consultancy services for clients. 
Support the training of and resources for end-users during the software implementation process. 
Work with clients to assess, cleanse and migrate data into the software platform. 
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data through quality assurance processes. 
Support the creation of detailed documentation for software configuration and data processes. 
Generate reports and analyze data to provide insights for clients  
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Legal ability to work in the United States without sponsorship 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural science, sustainability, or similar quantitative field; a master's in business administration or other advanced degree an advantage. 
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in a related role. 
  • Prior experience with project-level work, preferably in WASH sector and especially MRV and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) functions. Other sectors, such as Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU), Blue Carbon, emissions, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)/Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)”, and Renewables are also desirable. 
  • Experience with preparation of investment committee memos and similar reports (e.g. due diligence) including financial analysis and projections. 
  • General familiarity and some working experience with a) standards such as Verra and Gold Standard and b) Validation & Verification Bodies of such standards. 
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate data. 
  • Proficiency in data management tools, accounting principles, and emission calculation methodologies. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   

  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 35 lbs.   
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, ascend, and descend stairs, and bend.    
  • Ability to work primarily indoors with frequent work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.   
  • Ability to work outside the normal Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm workweek if needed.   
  • Ability to travel as needed.
