Wheaton College invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Engineering to begin Fall 2025. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in engineering, including those with non-traditional career paths, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Wheaton’s engineering program has recently expanded from a 3-2/Dual Degree program to include an Engineering BS major with concentrations in Mechanical, Biomedical, and Civil/Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will teach foundational engineering courses (e.g., Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, and Engineering Graphics) and will develop new required and elective courses within an Engineering BS major concentration. This faculty member may also teach courses for non-majors in our general education curriculum as well as seminar-style courses for majors such as an Introduction to the Profession course for first-year students or a capstone Engineering Ethics seminar.

Applicants must possess an earned Ph.D. in any engineering discipline. We seek candidates who are excited to mentor students from culturally diverse backgrounds and will engage students with an active learning model that challenges and supports each student. Previous teaching and industry experience, with hands-on design and project-based learning experience, are highly valued. The ability to mentor engineering students in the integration of Christian faith with the practice of engineering is an important component of this position. Faculty are expected to maintain an active and productive program of scholarship that engages Wheaton undergraduate students. Experience as an ABET evaluator or similar experience with the process of ABET accreditation is desirable.

Wheaton College is located 25 miles west of Chicago and is close to two national laboratories and many active industries. The College is an evangelical Protestant Christian liberal arts college whose faculty and staff affirm a Statement of Faith and adhere to lifestyle expectations of the Wheaton College Community Covenant. Wheaton is an equal opportunity employer committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce and student body. We encourage the expression of multiple perspectives within a Christian worldview, inside and outside the classroom. For more information about Wheaton College, visit www.wheaton.edu.

Additionally, Wheaton College is committed to providing a physically safe environment for students, staff, and faculty to learn and work. In support of this objective, the College requires background checks for final candidates, after an employment offer is extended. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Interested individuals should submit a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest. The letter of interest should clearly articulate the candidate’s qualifications in terms of teaching, mentoring, and scholarship. Additionally, candidates should describe their interest in mentoring engineering students in the integration of Christian faith and learning by drawing from their own personal Christian faith background. Additional application materials will be emailed to promising candidates.

Review of applications will begin October 11 and continue until the position is filled. A fact sheet with more detailed information about our engineering program is available upon request.
